  • If I already have health insurance, why do I still need DPC?
In many cases, people do not reach their deductible amount within a given year. This means you have to spend thousands of dollars before insurance starts to help pay for services. This leaves patients with thousands of dollars out of their own pocket for primary care needs. We realized this is unaffordable for many people and that is another reason we sought to fill that gap by creating Peak Health Direct Primary Care. We aim to offer affordable, accessible and equitable primary care services to our local community. We do recommend that our patients keep their insurance policy in case there is a catastrophic event or a life altering diagnosis.
  • What if I don't have health insurance?
At Peak Health Direct Primary Care we offer affordable healthcare and transparent pricing. We do not use or bill insurance. We cut out the middleman (insurance companies) and pass those savings on to you. If you do not have health insurance you are more than welcome to come see us.
  • What's the difference between a DPC and concierge care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an alternative to insurance driven healthcare. We do not bill insurance or take co-pays. Typically concierge practices will take a retainer, co-pay and then still bill insurance. With DPC, because we do not bill insurance, insurance companies cannot dictate the cost for care and labs. Therefore, we can typically save our patients a significant amount of money by passing these savings on to you. In DPC you pay for either a monthly or a yearly membership plan and if there are additional labs, pathology or services that you need, we do our best to transparently provide those costs up front so that you can make an informed decision that is best for you and your family.
  • What if I need a referral or have a catastrophic event?
In primary care we are trained to handle a wide variety of chronic and acute issues. If there is diagnostic imaging or testing that needs to be performed that is out of what we handle at the office then we can help direct you appropriately. We recommend that all of our patients carry catastrophic insurance in the unfortunate event that there is a car accident or a major life altering diagnosis such as cancer.
  • If I don't have insurance, how do I afford medications?
At Peak Health DPC we strive to offer the best healthcare anywhere. This sometimes means that prescription medications are necessary. To help you save more money we assess what is the most safe and affordable drug that is right for you. We also recommend that our patients use discount cards such as GoodRx or direct to consumer pharmacies such as Costplusdrugs (Mark Cuban's pharmacy) as a couple of examples.
  • What's the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?
A Registered Dietitian (RD) is one that goes through formal training, is accredited by a formal body: Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) and has completed an approved internship. While nutritionists can be very helpful in helping one achieve their nutritional goals, there are differing state by state requirements. Nutritionists can not perform Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and are not required to complete a formal internship. RDs must sit and pass national board exams and keep up with continuing education (CEUs) to stay current on the latest evidence based practice. At Peak Health DPC, we have a registered dietitian on the team, so you can feel confident in the dietary advice you receive.
